Due to changes in our household and time constraints, we are no longer able to provide the level of stimulation and engagement he needs.
Mango is a 5-year-old neutered male Beagle who is looking for a home that understands and appreciates the Beagle personality. This decision has been very difficult for us, but due to changes in our household and time constraints, we are no longer able to provide the level of stimulation and engagement he truly thrives on. Mango is a classic scent hound. His absolute favorite thing in the world is sniffing outdoors in grass and following interesting smells. Walks are not about distance for him, they are about exploration. He is extremely food motivated and enjoys enrichment games and activities that engage his nose. He is not particularly interested in running long distances or playing fetch. Like many Beagles, he prefers sniffing and exploring at his own pace. He does enjoy tug of war and food-based enrichment activities much more than traditional ball games. About Mango: • 5 years old • Neutered • Healthy • Extremely food motivated • Loves sniffing and scent-based activities • Vocal, as expected for the breed • Sleeps well and settles after mental stimulation Dog interactions: Mango is friendly with other dogs most of the time. He is not overly playful and tends to prefer sniffing over socializing. He can occasionally be selective or slightly uncomfortable around some large dogs, so thoughtful introductions and respectful canine companions would be ideal. Cats and children: He has not lived with cats or children, so slow introductions and supervision would be important if placed in a home with either. Separation: He can stay home alone for approximately 3 to 5 hours, though he does have mild separation anxiety. A structured routine and enrichment help him settle. Ideal home: Mango would do best with someone familiar with Beagles or scent hounds who can provide regular sniff walks and mental engagement. A home without shared walls may be best due to typical Beagle vocalization. He would thrive with someone patient, structured, and committed to meeting his enrichment needs. Our priority is finding Mango a stable, long-term home that truly matches his temperament and breed traits. We are happy to answer questions and be fully transparent to ensure the right fit.
